Spring Belt Testing

After doing the required forms, sparring and breaking a board with a front snap kick, Jason earned his green belt in Tae Kwon Do on April 19th. While he passed his test, it served more as a reminder of just how much more he has to learn.

Due to the differences in the coloring of rank belts in Tae Kwon Do and Karate, and the frequency of testing (Jason has had two belt tests in between the karate belt tests), Jason was able to catch up with Christopher in belt color (though Christopher really out ranks his dad). In actuality Jason's rank is equivalent to Alanna's rank.

UPDATE:

Oh yeah...and the Karate Kids just had their belt tests this last weekend. Christopher advanced 1/2 a step (same as the rest of the green belts), Alanna advanced to green belt and Sheila earned her orange belt.

This summer they will be going once a week and Megan will be joining them. If we ever do another family portrait we'll have to do it in our martial arts uniforms. :)

Happy Birthday Matthew!

We celebrated Matthew's birthday on conference Sunday (appropriately). Grandma Lula & Grandpa Gerry, Grandma Gallear & Aunt Tara, and Jamie, Tyler, & Josh were there. Matthew liked his toys & clothes (who took the clothes from Grandma Lula out of the package and placed them all neatly on the ottoman-it was sure cute!). He enjoyed the frosting on the chocolate cake, and seemed to love being the center of attention. Enjoy the cute pics!

Matthew's New Car

Matthew got this car for his birthday, he loves it and all he wants to do is play in it. Good, cheap purchase from Craigslist! Too bad it is so cold outside, but he doesn't seem to care. He has a permanently red upper lip due to the fact that he always seems to have a cold so I am constantly wiping his nose! I had to include a picture of his new shoes--camouflage "crocs".

I hate the fire marshal

Okay, I know they're supposed to be helpful, but every dealing I've heard about has been bad/annoying. This is why megan's party hasn't happened yet. We were going to have her party today, but the fire marshal waltzed in to the place that she's having her party at and they weren't up to code. WE'VE BEEN WAITING LIKE 3 WEEKS PEOPLE!

Testing
